AC/DC - whole lotta rosie

Whole Lotta Rosie

Wanna tell you a story
'Bout a woman I know
When it comes to lovin'
Oh she steals the show
She ain't exactly pretty
Ain't exactly small
Forty-two, thirty-nine, fifty-six
You could say she's got it all

Never had a woman
Never had a woman like you
Doing all the things
Doing all the things you do
Ain't no fairy story
Ain't no skin and bone
But you give it all you got
Weighing in at nineteen stone

Chorus:
You're a whole lotta woman
A whole lotta woman
Whole lotta Rosie
And you're a whole lotta woman

Oh honey you can do it
Do it to me all night long
Only one to turn
Only one to turn me on
All through the night time
And right around the clock
To my surprise
Rosie never stops
Song Notes : "
This is about a very large woman lead singer Bon Scott had relations with early in the band's career. Scott had great affection for the full-size girls"

The music is based on the Chuck Berry song "No Money Down."

"Originally released on the Let There Be Rock album, this song didn't get much publicity until AC/DC re-released it a year later on "If You Want Blood, You Got It" when the band became internationally popular"

AC/DC - It's A Long Way To The Top If you wanna rock'n'roll

It's A Long Way To The Top Lyric

Riding on the highway, going to a show.
Stopping on the byways, playing rock and roll.
Getting robbed, getting stoned,
getting beat up, broken bones.
Getting had, Getting took.
I tell you folks,
Its harder than it looks.

Its a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll!
Its a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll!
If you think its easy doing one night stands,
Try playing in a rock and roll band.
Its a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll!

Hotel, motel.
Make you wanna cry.
Ladies doing the hard sell.
Know the reason why.
Getting old, getting gray.
Getting ripped off, underpaid.
Getting sold, second hand.
Thats how it goes, when you're in a band.

Its a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll!
Its a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll!
If you wanna be the star on stage and screen, look out!
Its rough and mean!
Its a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll!
Its a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll!
Its a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll!
Its a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll!

Its a long way
Its a long way should've told me
Its a long way
Such a long way.
Song Notes : "
According to Bon Scott's biographer Clinton Walker, this tongue-in-cheek song "has become an anthem." It was the band's best single to date reaching number 5 in the Australian charts. Heavy Metal tracks are usually dominated by ego tripping guitar solos; this song is unusual because instead of a lengthy guitar solo it features interplay between Angus Young on lead and Bon Scott on the bagpipes. Ronald Belford (Bonnie Scotland) Scott was born in Scotland - as were the Young brothers. The somewhat older Scott arrived in Australia with his family some 11 years before the Youngs emigrated; he learned recorder and drums, and was a proficient bagpipe player. The song runs to 5 minutes 15 seconds, which is quite long for a single"

"
The band made a video to promote the single and the album. This was filmed on February 23, 1976 when they rode through the center of Melbourne on an open topped truck accompanied by 3 members of the Rats of Tobruk Pipe Band. The most noticeable feature of the video is that the vocalist was really enjoying himself, but, Walker adds, "it's as if Bon acknowledges he's living on borrowed time, and luckily at that." It would not be such a long way to the top for AC/DC, but 4 years later almost to the day, it would all be over for Bon Scott. On February 19, 1980 he was found dead on the back seat of a car in London, having literally drunk himself to death"

AC/DC - Shoot to Thrill (Live at Donnongton)

Shoot To Thrill Lyric

All you women who want a man of the street
But you don't know which way you wanna turn
Just keep a coming and put your hand out to me
'Cause I'm the one who's gonna make you burn
I'm gonna take you down - down, down, down
So don't you fool around
I'm gonna pull it, pull it, pull the trigger
Shoot to thrill, play to kill
Too many women with too many pills
Shoot to thrill, play to kill
I got my gun at the ready, gonna fire at will
Yeah
I'm like evil, I get under your skin
Just like a bomb that's ready to blow
'Cause I'm illegal, I got everything
That all you women might need to know
I'm gonna take you down - yeah, down, down, down
So don't you fool around
I'm gonna pull it, pull it, pull the trigger
Shoot to thrill, play to kill
Too many women with too many pills
Shoot to thrill, play to kill
I got my gun at the ready, gonna fire at will
'Cause I shoot to thrill, and I'm ready to kill
I can't get enough, I can't get MY FILL
I shoot to thrill, play to kill
Yeah, pull the trigger
Pull it, pull it, pull it, pull the trigger
Oh
Shoot to thrill, play to kill
Too many women, with too many pills
I said, shoot to thrill, play to kill
I got my gun at the ready, gonna fire at will
'Cause I shoot to thrill, and I'm ready to kill
And I can't get enough, and I can't get my FILL
'Cause I shoot to thrill, play it again
Yeah
Shoot you down
Yeah
I'm gonna get you to the bottom and shoot you
I'm gonna shoot you
Oh hoo yeah yeah yeah
I'm gonna shoot you down yeah yeah
I'm gonna get you down
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Shoot you, shoot you, shoot you, shoot you down
Shoot you, shoot you, shoot you down
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, ooooooh
I'm gonna shoot to thrill
Play to kill
Shoot to thrill
yeah, ooh yeah

AC/DC - ThunderStruck (Live at Donnongton)

ThunderStruck Lyric

Thunder
I was caught
In the middle of a railroad track
I looked round
And I knew there was no turning back Thunder
My mind raced
And I thought what could I do Thunder
And I knew
There was no help, no help from you Thunder

Sound of the drums
Beatin' in my heart
The thunder of guns
Tore me apart
You've been - thunderstruck

Rode down the highway
Broke the limit, we hit the town
Went through to Texas, yeah Texas
And we had some fun
We met some girls
Some dancers who gave a good time
Broke all the rules, played all the fools
Yeah, yeah, they, they, they blew our minds

I was shakin' at the knees
Could I come again please?
Yeah the ladies were too kind
You've been - thunderstruck, thunderstruck
Yeah yeah yeah, thunderstruck

Yeah
Oh, thunderstruck, yeah

Now we're shaking at the knees
Could I come again please?

Thunderstruck, thunderstruck
Yeah yeah yeah, thunderstruck
Thunderstruck, yeah, yeah, yeah

Said yeah, it's alright
We're doing fine
Yeah, it's alright
We're doing fine
So fine

Thunderstruck, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Thunderstruck, thunderstruck, thunderstruck
Whoa baby, baby, thunderstruck
You've been thunderstruck, thunderstruck
Thunderstruck, thunderstruck, thunderstruck
You've been thunderstruck

Song Notes : "According to The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, who inducted AC/DC in 2003, Angus Young was flying in a plane that was struck by lightening and nearly crashed. He came up with the riff and based the song on this experience"

AC/DC - Hells Bells (Live)

Hells Bells Lyric

I'm a rolling thunder, a pouring rain
I'm comin' on like a hurricane
My lightning's flashing across the sky
You're only young but you're gonna die

I won't take no prisoners, won't spare no lives
Nobody's putting up a fight
I got my bell, I'm gonna take you to hell
I'm gonna get you, Satan get you

Hell's Bells
Yeah, Hell's Bells
You got me ringing Hell's Bells
My temperature's high, Hell's Bells

I'll give you black sensations up and down your spine
If you're into evil you're a friend of mine
See my white light flashing as I split the night
'Cause if good's on the left, then I'm stickin' to the right

I won't take no prisoners, won't spare no lives
Nobody's puttin' up a fight
I got my bell, I'm gonna take you to hell
I'm gonna get you, Satan get you

Song Notes : "AC/DC recorded this a few months after lead singer Bon Scott drank himself to death. The album is a tribute to him, and features his replacement, Brian Johnson, on vocals"

"This is the first track on Back In Black, AC/DC's biggest album. It starts off with the church bells tolling 13 times in tribute to Scott"

"When this became a hit, AC/DC added a 2-ton bell to their stage show"

"The term "Hell's Bells" is an exclamation of surprise"

"The album was produced by John "Mutt" Lange who has also produced albums for Def Leppard. Mutt Lange produces for Shania Twain, who he is also married to"

AC/DC - T.N.T

T.N.T Lyric

See me ride out of that sunset
On your color TV screen
Out for all that I can get
If you know what I mean
Women to the left of me
Women to the right
Ain't got no gun
Ain't got no knife
Don't you start no fight...

Cause I'm T.N.T. I'm dynamite

T.N.T. And I'll win the fight

T.N.T. I'm a powerload

T.N.T. Watch me explode...

I'm dirty, mean, mighty unclean
I'm a wanted man
Public enemy number one
Understand...
So lock up your daughter
Lock up your wife
Lock up your backdoor
Run for your life
The man is back in town
Don't you mess around...

Cause I'm T.N.T. I'm dynamite
T.N.T. And I'll win the fight
T.N.T. I'm a powerload
T.N.T. Watch me explode...
T.N.T. Aye - Aye - Aye
T.N.T. Aye - Aye - Aye
T.N.T. Aye - Aye - Aye
T.N.T. Aye - Aye - Aye
T.N.T. I'm dynamite
T.N.T. And I'll win the fight
T.N.T. I'm a powerload
T.N.T. Watch me explode...

Song Notes : "This was originally released in 1975 in their native Australia on their second album, which was also called T.N.T. Their first 2 Australian releases were combined to form High Voltage, which was released worldwide"

"This was one of AC/DC's first singles with Bon Scott on lead vocals. Originally a roadie, he took over lead vocals when their first singer, Dave Evans, didn't show up for a gig"

"AC/DC recorded this quickly and with little production. They wanted to capture the energy of their live shows on the album"

"T.N.T. stands for Trinitrotoluene, an explosive compound. It was popularized in Road Runner cartoons when the Coyote would buy explosive items (from Acme) labeled "T.N.T." in an attempt to blow up the Road Runner. To this date, the coyote has not been able to harm the Road Runner in any way, and has done much more damage to himself through careless use of Acme products"

AC/DC - Back In Black Live

Back In Black Lyric

Back in black
I hit the sack
I've been too long I'm glad to be back
Yes, I'm gettin' loose
From the noose
That's kept me hanging about
I've been looking at the sky
'Cause it's gettin' me high
Forget the hearse 'cause I never die
I got nine lives
Cat's eyes
Abusin' every one of them and running wild

'Cause I'm back
Yes, I'm back
Well, I'm back
Yes, I'm back
Well, I'm back, back
Well, I'm back in black
Yes, I'm back in black

Back in the back
Of a Cadillac
Number one with a bullet, I'm a power pack
Yes, I'm in a bang
With a gang
They've got to catch me if they want me to hang
Cause I'm back on the track
And I'm leading the pack
Nobody's gonna get me on another rap
So look at me now
I'm just makin' my play
Don't try to push your luck, just get out of my way

'Cause I'm back
Yes, I'm back
Well, I'm back
Yes, I'm back
Well, I'm back, back
Well, I'm back in black
Yes, I'm back in black

Well, I'm back, Yes I'm back
Well, I'm back, Yes I'm back
Well, I'm back, back
Well I'm back in black
Yes I'm back in black

Hooo yeah
Ohh yeah Yes I am
Oooh yeah, yeah Oh yeah
Back in now
Well I'm back, I'm back
Back, I'm back
Back, I'm back
Back, I'm back
Back, I'm back
Back Back in black
Yes I'm back in black
Out of the sight

Song Notes : "This was released 5 months after lead singer Bon Scott died. The song is a tribute to Scott, and they lyrics, "Forget the hearse 'cause I never die" imply that he will live on forever through his music. With Brian Johnson on lead vocals, the Back In Black album proved that AC/DC could carry on without Scott"

"Bon Scott saw Brian Johnson singing for another band in a pub, and was so impressed by his vocals, when he met back up with AC/DC he told them to get Johnson if anything should ever happen to him. After Bon's death, Angus Young called Johnson up and offered him the position of lead vocalist. Johnson told him where he could put it and hung up (he thought someone was pranking him). Eventually, of course, it worked out"

"The band got the idea for the title before writing any of the song, although Malcolm Young had the main guitar riff for years and used to play it frequently as a warm-up tune"

"Bon Scott had several lyrical ideas for the album, but those were abandoned by the band in favor of new lyrics by Brian, Malcolm and Angus. Former AC/DC manager Ian Jeffrey claims to still have a folder that contains lyrics of 15 songs written for Back In Black by Bon"

"The album had a black cover with the band's logo on it. It was a tribute to Bon Scott"

"This was the title track to AC/DC's most popular album. It has sold over 19 million copies in the US, the 6th highest ever. Worldwide, it has sold over 40 million"

"This song was recorded in The Bahamas and produced in New York by Mutt Lange. Back In Black was one of the first big albums Lange produced. He went on to work with Def Leppard, Celine Dion, and Shania Twain (who he married). In the late-'70s, he produced 2 albums for the band Clover, which featured Huey Lewis on harmonica and Alex Call on lead vocals"

AC/DC - Highway To Hell

Highway To Hell Lyric

Living easy, living free
Season ticket on a one-way ride
Asking nothing, leave me be
Taking everything in my stride
Don't need reason, don't need rhyme
Ain't nothing I would rather do
Going down, party time
My friends are gonna be there too

I'm on the highway to hell

No stop signs, speed limit
Nobody's gonna slow me down
Like a wheel, gonna spin it
Nobody's gonna mess me round
Hey Satan, payed my dues
Playing in a rocking band
Hey Momma, look at me
I'm on my way to the promised land

I'm on the highway to hell
(Don't stop me)

And I'm going down, all the way down
I'm on the highway to hell

Song Notes : The title is often attributed as a phrase AC/DC guitarist Angus Young used to describe touring in America. There is a much more literal explanation, however. Highway to Hell was the nickname for the Canning Highway in Australia. It runs from where lead singer Bon Scott lived in Fremantle and ends at a pub/bar called The Raffles, which was a big Rock 'n Roll drinking hole in the '70s. As Canning Highway gets close to the pub, it dips down into a steep decline: "No stop signs... speed limits... nobody gonna slow me down." So many people where killed by driving fast over that intersection at the top of the hill on the way for a good night out, that it was called the highway to hell, so when Bon was saying "I'm on the highway to hell" it meant that he was doing the nightly or weekly pilgrimage down Canning Highway to The Raffles bar to rock and drink with his mates: "Ain't nothing I would rather do. Going down, party time, my friends are gonna be there too."

"This was the first AC/DC song to chart in the US. It helped drive huge sales for the Highway To Hell album, which has sold over 7 million copies in the US. It was AC/DC's sixth album, and their last with vocalist Bon Scott, who died in 1980 from excessive drinking. Their next album, Back In Black, was dedicated to him"

"Recorded in London, Highway To Hell was the first AC/DC album recorded outside of Australia. The album cover had Angus Young on the cover wearing his schoolboy uniform and devil horns. Some religious groups found this quite offensive"

Serial killer Richard Ramirez claimed this album compelled him to murder. He believed AC/DC stood for "Anti Christ/Devil's Child."

AC/DC performed this at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony when they were inducted in 2003. Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler inducted them, saying, "There is no greater purveyor of the power chord."

Rolling Stones & AC/DC - Rock Me Baby

AC/DC & Stephen Tyler - You Shook Me All Night Long

You Shook Me All Night Long Lyric

She was a fast machine
She kept her motor clean
She was the best damn woman I had ever seen
She had the sightless eyes
Telling me no lies
Knockin' me out with those American thighs
Taking more than her share
Had me fighting for air
She told me to come but I was already there

'Cause the walls start shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
And we were making it and you -

CHORUS:
Shook me all night long
Yeah you shook me all night long

Working double time
On the seduction line
She was one of a kind, she's just mine all mine
She wanted no applause
Just another course
Made a meal out of me and came back for more
Had to cool me down
To take another round
Now I'm back in the ring to take another swing

'Cause the walls were shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
And we were making it and you -

CHORUS

And knocked me out and then you
Shook me all night long
You had me shakin' and you
Shook me all night long
Yeah you shook me
Well you took me

You really took me and you
Shook me all night long
Ooooh you
Shook me all night long
Yeah, yeah, you
Shook me all night long

Your really took me and you
Yeah you shook me, yeah you shook me
All night long

Song Notes : "This was the first AC/DC single featuring new lead singer Brian Johnson. He replaced Bon Scott, who died February 20, 1980 after a drinking binge"

"Johnson came up with the line "She was a fast machine, she kept her motor clean" when he realized that cars and women were very much alike - they go fast, let you down, but then make you happy again when you see the new model. AC/DC has never been known for deep, meaningful lyrics"

"Johnson said the inspiration came from seeing images of American girls while recording in the Bahamas for the album Back In Black"

"Angus and Malcolm Young have received lots of praise for their guitar on this. The song is often placed within the Top-100 guitar solos of all time"

"This was the first AC/DC song to make the US Top-40"

"AC/DC played this when they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2003. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, who inducted them, sang on it with them"
